Q+A describes the scent of the moisturizer as, “The sugary and fresh Watermelon + Agave Nectar scent is combined with notes of Cactus Water, Orchid and Tropical Fruits.”

Honestly for me personally, the smell was awful. I’ll tell you more later in this post.

Skincare Routine And Products Used In This Test

I used this lotion twice a day for 30 days to treat my keratosis pilaris on my right arm. I applied the product right after showering in the mornings and evenings. Along with this product I used Q+A AHA Exlofiator Body Scrub as a mechanical body exfoliant for 3 days a week. Before applying the lotion, I used The Ordinary Glycolic Acid 7% Exfoliating Toner to exfoliate my skin.

Before / After Results For Q+A Salicylic Acid Smoothing Lotion

First things first. I have to be honest about the smell of this product. Q+A describes the scent of the moisturizer as, “The sugary and fresh Watermelon + Agave Nectar scent is combined with notes of Cactus Water, Orchid and Tropical Fruits.”

For me personally, the smell was awful. It’s fruity, yes, but the scent is really strong and artificial. It reminds me of a factory and a forced mix of strong fruit. It really smelled so bad to my nose that I was actually ready to give up on the product because I just couldn’t get used to its strong smell.

However, I thought it was probably my fault. I let my girlfriend test the product and she thought the smell was pleasant. I looked into the reviews on various retail stores and to my surprise, people had mostly described the product’s signature scent as pleasant, some even heavenly.
Inspired by this, I gave it a try and continued using the product. And after all, I’m glad I didn’t give up on it.

Despite the product’s smell, I think it’s worth a try. The texture is like a regular moisturizer, it’s white and a bit runnier than your average moisturizer, which made it pleasant to apply. It also absorbed fairly easily and didn’t leave the skin feeling particularly sticky.

I used the product with the same brand’s body scrub and The Ordinary Glycolic Acid toner and the results were impressive.
It didn’t completely remove my keratosis pilaris, but it helped soften and smooth my skin and also reduced the bumps caused by kp. You can see the results on my right hand after 30 days of use.

I should also mention that this is by far the most affordable combination I’ve used while testing different products. The combined price of the three products I used in the test was only $40.50.

The Ordinary Glycolic Acid 7% Exfoliating Toner $13.00 ($1.60 per Fl Oz)

Q+A AHA Exfoliator Body Scrub $12.50 ($1.48 per Fl Oz)

Q+A Salicylic Acid Smoothing Lotion $15.00 ($1.78 per Fl Oz)

Conclusion After 30 Days Of Use

Products Used:

The product has clearly helped with my keratosis pilaris symptoms. The smell was a deal breaker for me, I will not continue using the product despite the good results, as I know there are other good exfoliating moisturizers out there.

However, I still think the smell just didn’t suit my senses. The majority of users seem to like the smell of the product and even find it pleasant.

If you want a proven, strong fruity scented product that won’t break the bank, I can highly recommend this product. It is the cheapest exfoliating moisturizer I have tested so far, costing only $15.00 / 8.45fl.oz ($1.78 / Fl Oz).
