Benefits
Fragrance & Texture
The texture is nice and thick but soft. The scent is heavenly, a bit feminine and on the stronger side but really wonderful. I think the scent is mostly vanilla.
It left my skin feeling softer and is easy to use in the shower even on damp skin due to its thick consistency.
I used this body scrub three times a week for 30 days to treat my keratosis pilaris on my left arm. I applied the product in the shower. Along with this product I used La Roche-Posay Effaclar as a mechanical body exfoliant twice a day. After applying the serum, I used CeraVe’s SA Cream to moisturize my skin.
I’ve heard a lot of good things about this one, and I’ve been looking forward to getting my hands on it. It’s literally the first body scrub that comes up in search results when I search for a body scrub for keratosis pilaris, and the reviews are raving about it.
Sol De Janeiro says it’s designed for KP and blemish-prone bodies. According to them, this body scrub treatment instantly retexturizes to deliver smooth, radiant skin with improved clarity while targeting rough, bumpy patches.
Their product page also mentions clinical study results where 102 participants tested the product for 4 weeks.
I couldn’t find (or had the time to search for) a source for this clinical study, but I will just copy/paste the results they mentioned below.
Clinical Study Results (source)
In a consumer study of 102 participants conducted by an independent 3rd party lab, when used 2x per week*:
AFTER 1 USE
AFTER 2 WEEKS
AFTER 4 WEEKS
*In a blind consumer testing study, conducted by an independent third-party testing facility, 102 individuals ages 18-60 tested Bom Dia Body Scrub. The participants used a body scrub in generic packaging, with no brand affiliation. The participants evaluated the formula after the first application, two weeks and four weeks of twice weekly usage via a self-perception questionnaire.
The texture is really thick, slightly brownish, and the exfoliating stones vary in color. I prefer thicker body scrubs because they’re easier to apply to wet skin in the shower, and they don’t run off right away.
The texture is definitely rough, and doesn’t require that much effort or strength when applying it to the skin.
The smell of the product is quite strong. It’s quite feminine, the first thing that comes to mind is vanilla. In fact, it’s like perfume and it definitely lasts a little longer on the skin, as a man I don’t really care for this but I don’t think it bothered me. If I were to think about the smell on someone else’s skin I would say it was at least pleasant.
So, did it help with my keratosis pilaris? Definitely, I think this combination of these three products brought the clearest and cleanest results so far in reducing keratosis pilaris.
Again, it helped reduce redness, made my skin softer and clearly reduced kp bumps during the 30-day period of use.
So, if it smells pleasant, reduced my keratosis pilaris and made my skin softer and brighter, is there anything wrong with that?
Basically no, BUT. It’s really expensive, it’s $42.00 / 220g/7.8 oz. ($5.38 per Ounce). However it is really long lasting, 220g/7.8oz of body scrub is a lot. Also because the consistency is thick and coarse which helps with the application and you don’t have to use so much at a time.
Would i buy it again?
Personally, I don’t mind if it’s expensive as long as it really works. Also as a man, I would prefer another body scrub with a more moderate scent. If you like a thick rough body scrub and don’t mind a strong scent, I think it’s definitely worth the price.
Products Used:
An excellent product that is clearly high-end in price. The scent is strong but pleasant, the product is plentiful and it really feels like a premium product. Definitely worth trying.
When used with the Effaclar serum and Cerave moisturizer, no products have worked better for my KP so far.
